ARTIST BIO:

 

Debbi Becker is a mixed media artist originally from Miami, Florida, now based in Henrico, Virginia. Her work has been shaped through ongoing mentorships with Louise Freshman Brown, M.F.A., and Pablo Contrisciani, M.F.A., since the mid-2000s. Debbi has served as Artist in Residence at both SeminoleArt Studio (2017–2020) and Gallery 2014 (2013–2017), where she also taught collage, mixed media and painting workshops. She co-founded two collaborative art galleries & learning spaces in South Florida: BecBer Studios and FOR ART SAKE. Her artwork has been exhibited and sold across the region, and she has contributed to arts-based wellness initiatives, including “Art as Therapy” with the OASIS Institute. Debbi was active in socially engaged art through past affiliations with ArtServe and The Artful Activist group in Miami-Dade & Broward County. In Virginia, Debbi is a member of the VMFA, Cross Roads Art Center, The Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen volunteering for OMA.
